On the morning of June 10, 2022, CISDOMA, in coordination with the People’s Committee of Dien Ban Town and the People’s Committee of Dien Tien Commune, organized the handover ceremony for the Water Conservation Programme sponsored and implemented by Heineken Vietnam. This event included a field visit to actual model sites. The programme is part of the WATER CONSERVATION PROGRAMME in Dien Ban Town, Quang Nam Province, sponsored by Heineken Vietnam Brewery Limited, during the period of 2020 – 2021. The project was carried out under the cooperation agreement between the People’s Committee of Dien Ban Town and CISDOMA.

More than 120 delegates participated in the ceremony, including representatives from Heineken Vietnam Brewery Limited, leaders of the People’s Committee of Dien Ban Town and Dien Tien Commune, relevant departments and agencies, local associations, households benefiting from the project, and representatives from neighbouring communes.

The delegates attending the handover ceremony for the Water Conservation Program in Dien Tien Town over the two-year period from 2020 to 2022 have:

  1. Organized training classes on household waste classification and treatment with the participation of 75 delegates, including teachers, school principals from preschools, primary schools, lower secondary schools, and residents from 11 villages. The aim was to promote waste sorting and recycling, encourage the reduction of plastic usage, introduce techniques for waste classification, and limit pollution in the community.

  2. Conducted training classes on the proper use of chemical fertilizers and plant protection drugs with the participation of over 100 representatives from village women’s unions, youth unions, village leaders, teachers, and 91 households living in the commune.

  3. Organized training classes on livestock waste treatment with the participation of over 100 representatives from households, village women’s unions, youth unions, and teachers.

  4. Supported the construction of 48 pesticide shell collection tanks placed conveniently in the fields for households to collect after spraying.

  5. Provided equipment for waste collection in the commune, including 11 towing vehicles for transporting waste to collection points, 40 240-litre trash bins, and 100 bins for waste sorting in households in 11 residential clusters and schools.

  6. Supported the construction of 5 livestock wastewater treatment tanks for 5 households engaged in small-scale livestock farming in the project villages.

To continue to leverage the project’s effectiveness and aim to raise awareness and change community habits in plastic usage, household waste treatment, and applying pollution management solutions from agricultural production to minimize environmental pollution caused by waste, the leaders of the People’s Committee of Dien Ban Town and Dien Tien Commune have committed to maintaining and continuing the project’s support and assistance within the commune. They also pledge to promote the positive results of the project to other areas within the town.

The project’s waste collection team representatives guided the partner communes on the proper technique of collecting pesticide shells.

Representatives from other communes within the town had the opportunity to learn about the practical activities of the project, such as understanding techniques for handling pesticide shells, livestock wastewater treatment, and household waste sorting and collection. This knowledge can be applied in their daily lives.

The project’s waste collection team representatives guided the partner communes on the techniques of waste sorting and treatment.

The activity was organised in conjunction with World Environment Day, aligning with the message of “Only One Earth,” which embodies the spirit of solidarity and collective efforts to protect and conserve essential natural resources such as clean air, water, soil, and other resources necessary for livelihoods and sustainable development.
