On May 17th 2017, in Dong Ha town, Quang Tri province, Vietnam Youth Union organized the training workshop in the environmental protection and disaster risk reduction. The workshop aimed at providing the youth officers and pioneers in the North Central of Vietnam with the knowledge and skills related to environmental protection, preventing and reducing the risks of natural disasters. There were 110 youth officers and pioneers in environmental protection from Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Thua Thien Hue province to attend the workshop.
At the workshop, the experts, including those from The Consultative Institute for Socio-Economic Development of Rural and Mountainous Areas, shared the climate change situation in Vietnam, natural disaster prediction in the North Central, skills to implement necessary activities before, during and after the natural disasters, first-aid and rescuing in natural disasters and establishment of environmental protection groups. In addition, the participants discussed the natural disaster situation and practical experiences coping with natural disasters in their provinces, especially when the rainy season is about to come.
With the provided knowledge and skills, the youth pioneers and officers from those provinces will serve as the core members to communicate and implement the activities when natural disasters happen in the North Central provinces in 2017.
