On May 17th and 18th, nearly 2,000 students from the kindergarten and primary schools in the project “Promoting inclusive and relevant early childhood care and education for ethnic minority and disadvantaged children in Vietnam” at Ta Leng, Nung Nang and Khun Ha communes, Tam Duong district, Lai Chau province, actively participated in the activities of the 2017 Global Action Week for Education with the theme “Accountability for Sustainable Development Goal 4 and Citizen Participation”.

The students enjoyed the art performance carefully prepared by both students and teachers, as well as attended the games suited to their exercise needs, including tug of war, throwing rings to the bottle’s neck, kicking balls into goals, etc.

During the program, the parents were also involved in the awareness raising activities in terms of child care and education through the games like “The Magic Wand”, “Flower picking”, etc. Through such games, the parents had better understanding in the project “Promoting inclusive and relevant early childhood care and education for ethnic minority and disadvantaged children in Vietnam” in general and in particular, the bilingual supplementary materials which were jointly developed by The Consultative Institute for Socio-Economic Development of Rural and Mountainous Areas (CISDOMA), Vietnam Institute of Educational Sciences, Aide et Action (AeA) Vietnam and the schools in the project.

Despite the unfavorable weather condition, the Global Action Week for Education’s activities in Ta Leng, Nung Nang and Khun Ha communes succeeded as the students, teachers, parents and project team had the meaningful time, sharing and contributing to raising the community’s awareness and engagement in education.

The project “Promoting inclusive and relevant early childhood care and education for ethnic minority and disadvantaged children in Vietnam” is funded by European Union, jointly implemented by CISDOMA and AeA Vietnam in Ta Leng, Nung Nang and Khun Ha communes, Tam Duong district, Lai Chau province.
