Student Initiative Award Ceremony for Promoting Gender Equality and the Seminar on “Gender Stereotypes in Entrepreneurship” at the University of Danang

On September 15, 2023, the Consultative Institute for Socio-economic Development of Rural and Mountainous Areas (CISDOMA), in collaboration with the Research and Advisory Centre for Self-Reliant Employment and Self-Study Abroad – University of Da Nang, organized the 2023 Student Innovation Awards Ceremony for Promoting Gender Equality and the Seminar “Gender Bias in Entrepreneurship Activities” at the University of Pedagogy – University of Da Nang.

The attendees at the award ceremony and seminar included Mr. Đào Ngọc Ninh – Project Manager, Deputy Director of the Consultative Institute for Socioeconomic Development of Rural and Mountainous Areas (CISDOMA); Associate Professor Dr. Dương Minh Quân – Deputy Head of the Student Affairs Office, Director of the Research and Advisory Centre for Self-Reliant Employment and Self-Study Abroad – University of Da Nang; and Mr. Nguyễn Viết Hải Hiệp – Secretary of the Youth Union, Deputy Head of the Student Affairs Department at the University of Pedagogy – University of Da Nang.

The speakers included Mr. Võ Đức Anh – Deputy Director of the Centre for Entrepreneurship Support and Innovation of Da Nang City; Ms. Nguyễn Thị Hà Thu – Head of the Family, Social – Economic Department, Da Nang City Women’s Union; and Mr. Lê Kim Giao – General Director of Hùng Vương Investment and Education Development Company Limited, Deputy Head of the Creative Students Village, Techfest Vietnam.

This event also attracted a large number of student participants, with around 570 students from various affiliated colleges of the University of Da Nang attending. Four youth initiatives from University of Da Nang students were selected for awards and funding, including:

  • First Prize: The initiative “Seesaw of Balance” by the team “Seesaw of Balance” from the University of Pedagogy – University of Da Nang
  • Second Prize: The initiative “WOMENGINEER” by the team “BK Maker” from the University of Science and Technology – University of Da Nang
  • Third Prize: The initiative “Gender and Employment Opportunities” by the team “Hope of Gender” from the University of Pedagogy – University of Da Nang
  • Encouragement Prize: The initiative “Gender Bias in Professions” by the team “Gender of profession” from the University of Pedagogy – University of Da Nang

During the seminar, the speakers discussed and shared their perspectives, as well as answered students’ questions about the opportunities and challenges for women in entrepreneurship and innovation. This helped students gain more knowledge and experience in entrepreneurial and innovative activities.
